The design of this new residence draws upon images of New England farmhouses and barns combined with more contemporary influences. Created by Phi Architects for an interior designer, the ensemble includes a design studio on the upper floor of the barn.
The house and barn are carefully sited on the property to create an entry court that at first hides the front door and then reveals it as one moves toward it. The south-facing side of the house will extend into the gardens with patios and decks, along with open views from the primary rooms of the house. The large mudroom/laundry/pantry/dog room has been carefully designed to provide appropriate spaces for the Client’s other interests in cooking, gardening, and beloved golden retriever.
