Ducktrap Harbor Residence

Perched on a midcoast peninsula of granite ledge and spruce forest in Northport, Maine, this contemporary three-bedroom home was commissioned by a couple from Arizona who will soon be retiring to the Maine coast.

Natural elements found on the building site became a major influence on the material and color palette found within the house, including the tile and paint selection, the stained vertical-grain Douglas fir trim, and the species of granite countertops. Not far from the main house stands a separate three-bay garage with a second-floor one-bedroom apartment that will be home to various automobile restoration projects and visiting family members, respectively.
